Baumgardner Student Group Leads With Purpose, Compassion

Throughout the 2025–2026 school year, the Ladies of Leadership at Baumgardner Middle School demonstrated what it means to lead with purpose, compassion, and a commitment to serving others.

Guided by recently retired educator and longtime advisor Angela Kirkland and co-advisor Kaylah Saunders, the group focused on empowering young women to become positive leaders within their school and community. Through a variety of service projects, fundraising efforts, and school-based initiatives, members strengthened their leadership skills while making a meaningful impact on the Heights community.

"This group embodies the values of service, responsibility, and kindness," said Kirkland. "By serving their school and community, these young leaders learned that even small acts of kindness can create meaningful change.” 

“Their commitment to helping others serves as an inspiration to their peers and reminds us all that leadership begins with a willingness to make a difference. As their advisors, we could not be more proud," said Saunders.

The Ladies of Leadership remained active throughout the school year, participating in initiatives that promoted school spirit, community engagement, and support for local families. Members proudly served as greeters during the Baumgardner Middle School Dedication Ceremony, welcoming guests and helping celebrate an important milestone in the school's history.

The group also organized several successful fundraising and service projects, including a Scary Treats Fundraiser, Winter Holiday Movie Night Fundraiser, Canned Food Drive, and Dollar Donation Drive. These efforts not only supported community needs but also provided students with valuable opportunities to develop teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.

Within the school, members worked to create a positive and welcoming environment through Random Acts of Kindness and the popular Locker Love initiative. These projects encouraged students to uplift one another and fostered a culture of encouragement, respect, and connection.

Their impact extended beyond the school walls as well. Through their fundraising and service efforts, the Ladies of Leadership donated ten $50 Amazon gift cards to the Heights Family Resource Center, helping provide support to local families in need.

Collectively, the group's accomplishments reflect the power of student leadership and the difference young people can make when they choose to serve others. Through their dedication, generosity, and commitment to making a positive impact, the Ladies of Leadership have left a lasting mark on Baumgardner Middle School and the Heights community.
