Regular Meeting Overview

  • Robert Swaggard, Director of College and Career Readiness, delivered an update on college & career readiness efforts in CH-UH Schools.
  • Superintendent Kirby shared updates on the past month’s work within the five goals of the District’s Strategic Plan.
    • At the May 6 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the reduction of 32 staff positions effective July 1, 2026. A total of 21 individual staff members’ contracts were therefore suspended, largely due to the bumping rights outlined in the bargaining units’ negotiated contracts. Some staff members whose positions were eliminated were able to “bump in” to similar positions, allowing them to remain employed in the District. Superintendent Kirby shared that since that time, due to retirements and resignations, the District has been able to offer eight of those 21 employees open positions in the District. As of June 2, seven have accepted.
      • Read more here about the District’s plan to make at least $5 million in budget cuts over the next two years.
  • Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer Angele Latham delivered her “3 Things” report, a monthly initiative to educate the community on school funding. The 3 Things for June are:
    • Forecast
    • Budget
    • Appropriations
