CH-UH Recognizes Tiger Team Members of the Month for March

The theme across the CH-UH School District this year is Heights United. In that spirit, each month CH-UH is recognizing employees who go above and beyond to inspire unity and create a culture of excellence in our district.

 

For March, CH-UH is honoring 11 people as the “Tiger Team Members of the Month”. Each honoree was nominated by a colleague--and in some instances multiple colleagues--and the nominees were then voted upon by a staff committee.

 

The honorees will be recognized by the Board of Education at the April 7 meeting.

 

Ms. Saunders is an all-star teacher. She challenges her students to be great and pushes them to reach their full potential. Ms. Saunders is very knowledgeable and reaches students in unique ways. Ms. Saunders has been an asset to the staff since the first day she stepped foot in our school.

 

Within the IT department, Bill has always shown an eagerness to learn new skills, and his attention to detail and planning everything out in advance has saved the day on more than one occasion. Bill is assigned to the elementary buildings, and he won the respect of the teachers and staff in all of them, in a very short time period. They were very quick to recognize that they could place their trust in Bill to handle any of their concerns in a timely and professional manner. Not to mention he is sweet, charismatic and loved by all.  

 

Laura is a creative, energetic and compassionate teacher. She has taken on the second grade this year after 10 years with our fourth graders. She brings music, song, and stories and makes learning fun and lively. She differentiates learning and shows up with a positive attitude and a loving heart. We are lucky to have her expertise to help move our students toward excellence and to help them love learning and reading. She also is a great mentor and resource for our new teachers, and a leader in the building.

 

Mr. Beach always reacts quickly whenever help or items are needed. He is devoted to keeping Canterbury in tip top shape and making sure every evening the school is clean and ready for the next day. He is a team player we can always count on.

 

Ms. Akeema consistently goes above and beyond for the students she serves and the staff she supports each day. She is the definition of a team player; always flexible, willing to step in wherever needed, and ready to take on any challenge with a positive attitude. Ms. Akeema’s energy is both fun and uplifting, creating a warm and supportive environment for students and staff. She doesn’t hesitate to help out. Fairfax is lucky to have her!

 

Jaime is the definition of an expert in early childhood and special education. She is an amazing resource for teachers and is able to find and implement the right strategies for students in any setting. She's also amazing with families in guiding them through the evaluation process, and supporting them in getting their child set up for success in a preschool setting. The work that she does every day for our program is so important.

 

Mr. Jackson recently took a group of Heights High School alumni on a building tour, having been asked to do the tour just minutes before the group's arrival. He undoubtedly had a full to-do list that day, but he put it aside to cover for a colleague in need. He did this because he is a true Tiger Team Member, and because he is proud to show off Heights High School to the community.

 

Mr. Walker does a wonderful job of managing multiple priorities at once, ensuring that our school is taken care of. He really sees our staff as people first. Through his leadership, he unites us around shared goals. Through his leadership, our school not only runs effectively, but is also a place where our community feels valued, supported, and committed to excellence. Thank you, Mr. Walker!
 

Mrs. Rose is filled with heart and is making a difference everyday in the lives of Oxford Tigers. She may be in her first year, but her positive attitude and her willingness to give it all she’s got for her students make her the perfect addition to Tiger Nation as a teacher. Mrs. Rose is leading the way with her small groups. She seeks out feedback to make her classroom the safe, nurturing environment every Tiger wants and deserves. Her focus on kindness is a guiding principle. Oxford is lucky to have her!

 

Ms. Nic, as she is affectionately known by her students, has a heart of gold. She demonstrates a caring attitude on a daily basis in and out of the classroom. Her positive attitude is contagious to all that work with her, both staff and students alike. Ms. Nic is a huge support to the students, teaching team, our school, and the CH-UH community.

 

Ms. Underwood is an example of what a good employee is: she follows through to the end. She has been diligent in precautionary searches on a daily basis that have been instrumental in maintaining school safety. Students and staff feel safe and secure due to Underwood showing up to work everyday and following the safety protocol by the book. She deserves recognition for all that she does.
