Heights High Pool Reopens To Public November 3

Heights High Pool Reopens To Public November 3

The Cleveland Heights High School indoor pool will reopen for public use for the first time in more than five years, beginning Monday, November 3.

The pool reopening follows passage of a shared use agreement by the City of Cleveland Heights, the City of University Heights, and the CH-UH Board of Education, which was celebrated during a ribbon cutting on October 31.

The cooperative agreement opens the pool to the public Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., a schedule which may be amended in the future to provide additional hours for community use.

The agreement calls for Cleveland Heights to fund 75% and University Heights to fund 25% of the cost to hire lifeguards and to provide supervision from the City’s Aquatics Coordinator.

Anyone who has a pass to the Rec Center may swim at the pool at no additional cost (otherwise, a small fee applies). The funds for the lifeguards were previously approved by City Council in 2024 when it adopted legislation allocating $25,000 for lifeguards.

“My Board colleagues and I are thrilled to be able to offer use of the pool to our community once again, as a result of our trusted partnerships with the cities. We would also like to thank the residents for urging us to get this accomplished. We look forward to seeing them at the pool!” said Board of Education President Malia Lewis.

“When Heights High reopened in 2017 after major renovations, CH-UH promised residents that it would be a school for the entire community. This agreement will help us continue to make good on that promise, and I am grateful to our Board and cities for making this happen,” said Superintendent Liz Kirby.

Community members who would like to use the pool may do so starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, November 3. Please enter Heights High School through Door 8, across from the football stadium. Access to the school building beyond the natatorium is restricted during these hours.
