Message From Superintendent Regarding Human Trafficking Operation

Dear CH-UH Community,

Earlier this week, you may have seen news reports about a recent statewide human trafficking operation that resulted in more than 100 arrests. One person arrested was described by some news outlets as a “Cleveland Heights teacher,” although this person is not (and was not) employed by the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District. The person who was arrested is a resident of Cleveland Heights and was employed as a teacher outside of CH-UH.

Had the person been an employee of the CH-UH City School District, we would have informed our District staff, families, and community in alignment with our commitment to transparency.

On the topic, I encourage everyone to take a look at these resources from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office related to human trafficking. Human trafficking is a complicated issue that impacts all types of communities. I appreciate the ongoing efforts of our state officials to protect those who are most vulnerable and those who have been affected.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Liz Kirby
