Happy Summer Reading, Tiger Nation!

Summer is here! Are you looking for a way to relax? Do you want to travel to new places? Do you want to learn something new, or make new friends? Reading can be the answer to all of these questions! This summer is the perfect time for all students in grades K-12 to choose a book, manga, comic book, or audiobook to read or listen to. Everything counts!

District & Library Summer Reading Partnership

As in years past, the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District has a summer reading plan for students entering Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. This year, we are partnering with the Heights Library Summer Reading Program. Stop by any Heights Library branch to pick up a paper reading log or participate online

Your participation in the Heights Library Summer Reading Program also enters you into The Superintendent’s Summer Reading Challenge! For each day logged, students will receive a raffle ticket which will be entered into a drawing for prizes at each elementary, middle, and high school level. The elementary school with the most days read will receive an ice cream party. In August, Heights Library will share information about each student’s participation with the District so there is no need to complete any additional assignments before school starts in August. Just read!

Remember, any kind of reading counts!  Here are three ways to access ebooks at no cost:
  • The Heights Libraries have a way to access ebooks; follow the directions here.
  • The app Open eBooks has access to titles through Clever.
  • Check out this resource from INFOhio to explore a variety of topics and access reading materials.
Have a great time reading this summer!
