Letter #4 to the Class of 2020

May 13, 2020 -- A message from the Administrative Team to the Class of 2020:

Now that we have more guidance from both the Governor and the Ohio Department of Education, we want to provide you with some updated information. Please understand that all decisions which have been made and which are being made now, are done with the safety of our students, families, and staff as the number one priority.

Graduation Ceremony
We are in the process of planning a Graduation ceremony where each graduate can walk across the stage at the High School, have his/her name announced with a few family members present, and have their photo taken. This will be scheduled beginning June 8 to comply with the minimum number of individuals allowed to gather. It will require a great deal of planning and cooperation on your part so that everyone is safe. Details will follow with respect to the date and the time each graduate will be scheduled.

The plan must be approved by the Board of Health before we can move forward. The ceremony will be videotaped so you will be able to view the entire Commencement at a later date. We would also like to have a parade to honor your accomplishments on or about June 22. We are in communication with the City of Cleveland Heights and the police department to determine its feasibility. It is our intention and desire to provide you with as many of the well-earned milestones you deserve.

Cap and Gown Pickup
If you were unable to pick up your cap and gown on May 11, the Jostens representative will be at school again on Wednesday, May 20 for the final pick up between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The same protocol will be followed:

- Drive-in using the Heights High Washington Boulevard entrance.
- Proceed to the Heights High front door and pick up location
- Stay in your vehicle at all times
- Display a sign in your front window with the student’s first and last name in LARGE LETTERS
- The Jostens rep will place your order inside your trunk (preferred) or back seat.

Prom
Prom was rescheduled for Friday, July 24 at Landerhaven. We don’t know what the decisions will be regarding large gatherings. In the event that it can’t be held in July, we have reserved Friday, August 14.

Senior Pictures
If you have ordered senior pictures through LifeTouch, they have scaled-down workers due to government mandates with social distancing guidelines. If you have any questions about your order, please call Lifetouch customer service at 1-800-736-4753. Any pictures that were delivered to the high school have been mailed out.

Academics
Seniors, please continue to focus on your classes. All work should be completed by Thursday, May 21. The counselors will be reviewing your transcripts to ensure you have met all your graduation requirements. Contact your teachers if you have any questions on any assignments or need some support. We are all here to make sure you finish strong.

Locker Cleanout/Chrome and Library book Return - Beginning on May 20
Beginning on May 20, students should bring all textbooks and library books to the school and students can also retrieve any items left in lockers. See the schedule and procedure.

Library fines will be waived but library books must be returned.

Students may use Chrome books to complete assignments but the computers must be returned by May 28. See details at the link above.

Heights High Legends
If a senior is a child or grandchild of a Heights High alum, they are our Legends and we want to honor them in the printed hard copy Class of 2020 Graduation Program.

Please complete this form NO LATER THAN Monday, May 18, 2020, to be included in the program. It can also be found on the Senior Class link on the High School web page.

We hope that you are enjoying your yard sign...you are a graduate and we are so very proud of you!
