May 20, 2019 -- Heights Middle School Success Academy students visited the McGregor Home on May 15 to help senior residents plant flowers.

The McGregor Home is a care facility for older adults on the border of Cleveland Heights and East Cleveland. Success Academy Administrator Ms. Denise Lackey and Mr. Claude Holland, the Options Program liaison to the Success Academy, attended the activity with the students.

"They had an awesome experience helping others and giving back to the community," Lackey said.

The purpose of Success Academy is to provide a positive opportunity for middle school students who have not experienced success in the traditional classroom setting and who need additional academic and social support. Students work in a small classroom setting that is focused on academics and positive behavior supports. The curriculum is aligned to the students’ current core classes but provided in a way to meet each student’s learning style.
