District Accepting Applications for Advocacy Task Force
Oct. 28, 2019 -- The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District is committed to developing a comprehensive plan to address the effects of Ohio’s EdChoice program and the School Report Card on our schools. Therefore, the District is developing an Advocacy Task Force and is accepting applications to join this group.
Our goal is for the task force to include staff, families, community-based organizations, and community members who represent the diversity of CH-UH Schools and who can provide valuable insight on ways to strengthen advocacy efforts on behalf of our schools and students. Members should bring an open mind, a passion for public education, and a willingness to engage in meaningful collaboration throughout the task force process.
The group will meet monthly beginning in January until presenting a plan to the Board of Education later in 2020. Completed applications should be emailed to Rosalyn Adams at [email protected] and will be accepted on a rolling basis. The first meeting is Thursday, January 23 at 6 p.m. at the Board of Education.

MISSION: The mission of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District’s Advocacy Task Force is to address the challenges surrounding the state’s EdChoice program and School Report Cards, and enhance stakeholder knowledge of how they affect our district’s funding, resources, and public perception.
CREATION: This task force shall be established pursuant to Board Policy 9140.01 - Citizens Task Forces. As per the policy, the task force will have oversight from the Superintendent or her designee.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The task force will be asked to review the impact of EdChoice and the School Report Card on the District and to make recommendations to mitigate the negative impact of this legislation. District staff will share all relevant items with the task force for research and discussion.
DURATION: The task force will meet once a month starting in January 2020 and will submit a report to the Board of Education in the spring of 2020. All task force meetings will be open to the public and the Superintendent, or her designee, will lead the meetings and establish all agendas.
MEMBERSHIP: The Superintendent, or her designee, will solicit applications for membership on the task force. Our goal is for the task force to include staff, families, community-based organizations, and community members who represent the diversity of CH-UH Schools and who can provide valuable insight on ways to strengthen advocacy efforts on behalf of our schools and students. Members should bring an open mind, a passion for public education, and a willingness to engage in meaningful collaboration throughout the task force process.
CH-UH District staff members will be appointed to the task force under the direction of the Superintendent. A representative from the Board of Education will be included as an ex-officio member. Members of the School Advocacy Committee will be automatically considered for membership on the Advocacy Task Force.
