Happy New Year from Superintendent Kirby

January 3, 2020

Dear Tiger Nation Families, Staff & Community,

I hope you have had a happy new year and were able to ring in 2020 with loved ones. I spent this New Year’s Day with my family, eating our traditional black-eyed peas for luck and prosperity, and watching movies (there has been a heated debate on which version of Jumanji is the best!). For the first time in 25 years, I’ve been able to experience the holiday in the same city in which I work, and it’s truly been wonderful.

During the winter break, I’ve also spent time working on ways that we can better advocate for our district and connect with our stakeholders on important issues. On January 9 at 7 p.m., the CH-UH City School District will host a public presentation on school funding and EdChoice at Heights High. I hope you can join us to learn more about how tax dollars support our local schools, and how you can help advocate for fairness in regard to state funding.

The beauty of the new year is that it’s a fresh start, and there’s nothing like the feeling of a fresh start to motivate us to do great things. I look forward to working with all of you in 2020 to do the greatest thing possible - preparing all of our students for success.

Sincerely,
Liz Kirby
CH-UH City School District Superintendent
