Nov. 7, 2019 -- Dietitian Kristen Marcela Totino paired up with AVI FRESH Executive Chef Micheal Bluto to provide Fairfax and Boulevard students with a tasting presentation on three different types of bell peppers during their lunch periods. Kristen educated students on the type of flavors each bell pepper has, and discussed the health benefits of eating peppers.
Students tried orange, red, and yellow bell peppers and used stickers to score which peppers they liked the most. Student data from both schools revealed that students enjoyed red bell peppers more than yellow or orange bell peppers.
Between now and Thanksgiving break, Kristen Marcela Totino will be visiting school buildings every Tuesday and Thursday introducing various grains for the students to sample and learn about.
