Nov. 7, 2019 (Matt Goul, Cleveland.com) -- J.R. Bremer’s basketball itch won’t go away. It’s existed with him as a player or now as a new coach. Then again, Bremer is still getting used to the latter.

He is beginning his first season back at his alma mater, which happens to have a talented and deep backcourt that gained two transfers in Garvin Clarke from Euclid and E.J. Farmer from Lutheran East.

Cleveland Heights wanted to return to its roots when it hired Bremer last spring. His No. 22 jersey is retired by the school, which enjoyed its last state championship with him as a junior in 1997. He went on to a professional career that included a stint with the Cavaliers and last coached as a volunteer at Indiana University of Pennsylvania before returning home. With Clarke, an Akron commit, and Farmer, the Tigers already brought back Christian Dillard and Manny Hill, who started throughout points of last season under former coach Michael Cruz.
