Heights Student Musician Receives Highest Honor

Jan. 7, 2020 -- Heights High student musician Charlie King has won a concerto competition and will be the soloist in the Artie Shaw Clarinet Concerto with The Contemporary Youth Orchestra on Saturday, January 11, 7 p.m. at Tri-C Metro.
 
Fellow Heights musicians Zelda Thayer-Hansen (violinist), Katrina Palmer (violist), Marissa Veccia (cellist), Lily Waugh (flutist), Franco Casucci (trombonist), will also perform with Charlie.

Under the teachings of Robert Woolfrey of the Cleveland Orchestra, Charlie has earned the 1st clarinet seat in the OMEA All-State Orchestra, the highest honor a high school musician can achieve in the state. Later in January, Charlie will perform with the OMEA All-State Orchestra in Cincinnati.
