Dear Tiger Nation,

As I take time to reflect on what I’m thankful for this year, I want to share with you how grateful I am for the opportunity to serve the CH-UH community. My work in leading this district into our next phase of success is both a joy and a privilege. A personal, added blessing is that after many years of working far from my hometown of Cleveland, I’m back in Ohio and live close to much of my family again - I’m so lucky to get to spend more precious time with them.

For the holiday, my mom and I will travel from Cleveland to Washington, D.C. to visit my younger sister. I’m looking forward to a delicious meal featuring my absolute favorite Thanksgiving dish - my mom’s famous corn pudding. We’ll also spend time catching up, relaxing, and sightseeing in the city.

I hope you all experience much of the same this Thanksgiving: satisfying food, laughter with loved ones, and time to settle and relax. For the tireless work you do for our students, the unconditional care you give each day, you deserve it.

To the families of our students, thank you for working in partnership with our schools to support the academic success of your children. To the support staff who keep their departments and buildings running like well-oiled machines, thank you for being an essential part of this organization and its mission. To our teachers and administrators, thank you for your focus on the Strategic Plan that drives the work of the district in providing a quality education for each and every student.

And to the CH-UH board members - thank you for your leadership as we create equitable environments that inspire and allow students to achieve. I am also grateful for all those who champion our schools and public education. We know our schools are diamonds, but it’s our dedicated supporters who help show the world how bright we can shine.

Tiger Nation families, staff, and champions - I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Liz Kirby
