Dr. Brian Williams Named Interim Superintendent

L-R: Dr. Talisa Dixon, Dr. Brian Williams, Jodi Sourini

Jan. 31, 2019 -- Longtime district administrator and current Coordinator of Alternative Programming at the Options Center Dr. Brian Williams has been named the Interim Superintendent to lead the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District when current Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon departs in March.

The CH-UH Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Williams at its regular meeting on Jan. 30. Dr. Williams will assume the post beginning March 4 and will serve through the end of July 2019.

“We wanted an Interim Superintendent who has a demonstrated track record of success in leading our district through transitions. We are excited to have Dr. Williams lead our district, and we are fortunate to have a deep pool of qualified candidates who could fill the interim role,” said Board of Education President Jodi Sourini. “Dr. Williams is a proven leader, an outstanding educator, and someone who is universally respected throughout our school community.”

Dr. Williams has served CH-UH Schools for 21 years, including as the Interim High School Principal at Heights High throughout the 2017-2018 school year. He will return to lead the Options program on Aug. 1.

The Board of Education is currently undergoing a national search for its next permanent superintendent. The Board expects to begin interviewing candidates in February and have the new superintendent begin Aug. 1, 2019.

An Interim Options Site Supervisor for the remainder of the school year will be named soon.
