Two Staff Members Test Positive For COVID-19 - November 9, 2020

November 9, 2020

Last night, the District learned of a recently confirmed case of COVID-19 in a Monticello Middle School staff member. This staff member was last in the Monticello school building in the afternoon of November 3 and had been working in-person with students in the capacity of an extracurricular activity. The individual is experiencing mild symptoms and is resting at home. Cleaning and disinfecting of the spaces the staff member occupied, which include the east gym, one classroom and one restroom, occurred early this morning. We are contacting specific families this morning whose students interacted in-person with this staff member.

Earlier today, the District learned of a recent confirmed case of COVID-19 in a Gearity Elementary School staff member. This staff member was last in the Gearity school building today, November 9, and had been working in-person with students in an instructional capacity up until Thursday, November 5. The individual is currently experiencing no symptoms and is quarantining at home. Cleaning and disinfecting of the spaces the staff member occupied, which include two classrooms and the gym, took place this afternoon. Staff will provide a deeper clean of the areas tonight.

Both Pre-K units will move to completely remote learning for this week out of an abundance of caution. We will reassess the situation in a few days in order to determine the plan for next week.
