Feb. 22, 2018 -- Fifth graders from Noble and Gearity elementary schools worked as teams to solve challenging math problems during a tournament held at John Carroll University.

One team of four students from Gearity and two teams of four students each from Noble competed in the tournament on February 10. Students worked as a team to answer challenging, non-routine word problems. They were coached by teachers Tamara Heldman and Jodi Burke. 

"A variety of fifth grade math standards were represented in the math problems that students had to solve. The kids met weekly for a number of weeks in order to practice and prepare for the contest by working to solve past competition problems. I'm proud of how hard they worked!" Ms. Heldman said.
