VIDEO: Super Bowl LII Has Heights High Connection

Heights High School Alumni Jason Kelce and Shelton Gibson

Jan. 30, 2018 -- Fox 8 News was at Heights High School last week to highlight two alums, Jason Kelce ('06) and Shelton Gibson ('13), who will suit up for the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII on Sunday. Watch the video below or by clicking here.

Kelce is in his seventh season in the NFL and is the starting center for the Eagles, who earned the top seed in the NFC Playoffs. He was named to the prestigious NFL All-Pro Team this season.

Gibson is finishing up his rookie season with the Eagles. The wide receiver, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft out of West Virginia, played in five games during the regular season and finished the year with two catches for 11 yards. He is playing on special teams of late, particularly excelling as a "gunner" on the punt team.

Kelce and Gibson will be the third and fourth Heights High alums to play in the Super Bowl. Mike "Scooter" McGruder (’80) was a cornerback with the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI. Barry Cofield (’02) won Super Bowl XLII as a defensive lineman with the New York Giants. McGruder and Cofield were at Heights High in December 2015 as part of the NFL's Super Bowl 50 celebration.

Super Bowl LII is Sunday, Feb. 4, at 6:30 p.m. on NBC. The Eagles will take on the defending champion New England Patriots.
