Dear CH-UH Families,
The CH-UH City School District utilizes Google Workspace for Education to support the educational and instructional needs for District students. We’re writing to inform you of a recent change in Google’s policies regarding their non-core services, which Google refers to as “Additional Services”, which are online applications owned and operated by Google.
For many years, students have had access to Google’s Additional Services, such as Google Bookmarks, Chrome Web Store, Google Earth, Google Books, CS First, Google Maps, Google My Maps, Google News, Google Photos, Google Play, Google Translate, Looker Studio, Material Gallery, and YouTube as part of their educational experience. However, school administrators were recently notified by Google that Google will now require parental consent for students under 18 years of age to continue using these Additional Services.
Unfortunately, Google has given schools a short deadline of March 31, 2025, to comply with this new requirement, so we are working quickly to ensure compliance while minimizing disruption to student learning.
By March 28, 2025, please complete the Google Apps Consent Form on Infinite Campus if you wish to allow your child to continue using Google’s Additional Services. Please note that if you do not complete the Google Apps Consent Form by March 31, 2025, your child will not be permitted to use Google Additional Services on your child’s Chromebook. If your student will be 18 years old on or after March 31, you do not need to complete the form.
