Heights High Hosts Red Cross Blood Drive, October 23

Oct. 2, 2024 -- Heights High School will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the Cleveland Heights High School Auxiliary Gymnasium.

For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call Sarah Parker at 216-346-0797 or sign up online at www.redcrossblood.org.

Each donor will receive a $10 Amazon e-gift card and a $10 Raising Cane’s gift card.

Students who are interested in donating must be at least 16 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and need a signed permission slip. Please see the School Nurse or Mrs. Parker in room 129 for a permission slip.

“Cleveland Heights High School is committed to strengthening our community and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations,” said Sarah Parker, DECA advisor. “This blood drive is our way of giving staff, colleagues and neighbors an opportunity to help save lives.”

Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.

“We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs," said Mrs. Parker. "There’s no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.”

According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, but especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.
