Curtis Walker Named Monticello Middle School Principal

June 12, 2024 -- Curtis Walker has been officially named the Principal of Monticello Middle School, effective August 1, 2024. The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Board of Education approved the hiring of Walker at the June 4 Board meeting.

Walker most recently served as Principal of Lakeshore Intergenerational School in Cleveland, where he successfully led the implementation of a school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program within each classroom. Prior to that, he was the Principal of The Academy of Math and Science - Flower in Arizona for four years. He began his career as an English Language Arts teacher at Breakthrough Schools in Cleveland.

“Mr. Walker brings a wealth of experience in school leadership and teaching, and I look forward to seeing him take Monticello to new levels of excellence,” said Superintendent Liz Kirby. “His focus on school culture and climate, as well as instructional leadership, will serve the school extremely well.”

Walker holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in communication from John Carroll University. Walker is also a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and attended Roxboro Middle School.

“Returning to a community that has profoundly influenced my journey is truly special. I am excited to join the Monticello family and give back to its incredible students,” said Walker.
