Nov. 25, 2024 -- The District is engaged in an important and thoughtful process regarding the potential renaming of Monticello Middle School. This initiative aligns with our district’s ongoing commitment to equity and inclusion, and it is important that we engage with the community throughout this journey.

On Wednesday, December 4, we will hold a Discussion and Education Session for families, students, and community members at 6 p.m. in the Monticello Middle School media center.

During the Discussion and Education Session, we will discuss the history of Monticello and the reasons behind the potential name change. Facilitators will help us explore the significance of this history and how it aligns with our community's values today.

Also on Wednesday, December 4, a Discussion and Education Session for staff will take place in the Monticello Middle School media center at 3:15 p.m. Both sessions will be taped and available for viewing later on the District’s YouTube channel.

At a later date, we will share a community survey to gather additional feedback.
