Board of Education Meeting Summary - December 17, 2024

Dec. 18, 2024 -- At the monthly regular Board of Education meeting on December 17, the Board and Superintendent Kirby recognized this year’s holiday card contest winners, and Chief Financial Officer Scott Gainer introduced the new Finance at a Glance report.

Meeting Overview
  • The Board approved a resolution to allow the District to purchase OpenGate weapons detection systems for the entrances of Heights High School, Delisle Options Center, and both middle schools. The Board discussed the need for these systems and the decision-making process that led to the selection of OpenGate. The schools will begin using the systems in early 2025. Additional information about the systems, including timeline, protocols, and information sessions, will be shared soon with families and staff.
  • Superintendent Liz Kirby shared updates on the past month’s work within the five goals of the District’s Strategic Plan.
  • Chief Financial Officer Scott Gainer presented the department’s new Finance at a Glance report, which outlines District fund sources and expenditures. It is available to view on the District website here.
