May 23, 2021Dear CH-UH Families,
I almost couldn’t believe my ears when someone mentioned on Friday that there are only eight school days left in the year. I’m proud of our families, our staff, and most of all our students, for keeping energy levels up in the midst of all the end-of-year activities. We are in the home stretch to Memorial Day weekend, graduation for our seniors, and a well-deserved summer for all.
Chromebook instructionsIt’s nearly time to begin returning student Chromebooks for grades PreK-1 and graduating seniors. Students in grades 2-11 will keep their Chromebooks to use over the summer. Instructions and dates for learners based on instructional models can be found

Advocacy updatesDuring the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, the Director of Legislative Services for the Ohio School Boards Association, Jennifer Hogue, joined us to discuss the biennial budget process, the latest news on Fair School funding, and how our community can best advocate for this important change. The video of her presentation is
here. I appreciate Jennifer taking the time to break down these complicated topics for us and make them more tangible for those of us who don’t live this work every day.
Thank you for your
calls and letters to legislators on behalf of HB 110 (which includes the Fair School Funding language). We will keep you abreast of developments and continue to share information.

hereCOVID-19 case summary for the week of May 17Since Monday, May 17, we have received reports of zero staff members and three students testing positive for COVID-19. Positive cases are reflected on the District’s
case reporting dashboard. The county remains in Level 3 “red” alert level status in the Ohio Public Health Advisory System. The
data released by the Ohio Department of Health on Thursday show that three of the seven indicators are currently met.
When staff and students who have been in District buildings test positive for COVID-19, we send notices to the families whose children attend the affected schools and to the staff members of those schools. We also post the notices on
chuh.org and our District app, available for
Android and
iPhone.
This document contains the process following a staff or student testing positive for COVID-19.
I hope you and your children enjoyed the lovely weather this weekend. Have a great final full week of the school year!
Sincerely,
Superintendent Kirby
