LEI: Create New Worlds at Kids' Comic Con, February 24-March 4

Feb. 17, 2023 -- Lake Erie Ink presents the 11th Annual Kids’ Comic Con, a safe space for youth to create new worlds with the guidance of veteran comic authors and illustrators. On Friday, March 3, and Saturday, March 4, kids ages 8-18 will have the chance to attend in-person workshops and virtual sessions that emphasize possibility. The event is facilitated by  professional artists, writers, and panelists representing a wide range of styles, experience, and  backgrounds and will be held at the Coventry PEACE campus in Cleveland Heights.

Virtual sessions include a drawing workshop with Nickelodeon, and an in-depth, step by-step look at the process of creating a comic book page with Marc Sumerak, who has spent over two decades crafting story content for Marvel, Star Wars, and more. Other notable guests participating in events include Brad Ricca, Sequoia Bostick, Terri Libenson, and Joe Biel. For a full list and bios of guest participants, see the event webpage.

New this year, Lake Erie Ink is offering two additional events to kick off Kids’ Comic Con: Comics and Community – Building New Worlds, an artist panel for adults and teens at Visible Voice Books on February 24; and Teen Cosplay Fashion Show and Trivia Party at B-Side Lounge on March 3, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Pricing and registration information can be found at lakeerieink.org/kids-comic-con. Scholarships are available for all Comic Con events. Please email [email protected] or call (216) 320-4757 with any questions.
