CH-UH Announces Finalists for Teacher, Helping Hand, Rookie, Administrator of the Year Awards

May 5, 2023 -- The finalists have been selected for each of the CH-UH City School District’s year-end awards, including Teacher of the Year, Helping Hand of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Administrator of the Year.

The finalists for Teacher, Helping Hand, and Rookie of the Year were determined through district-wide voting. The candidates were the building winners for each award category. The finalists for Administrator of the Year were determined by the Superintendent’s Cabinet.

District Teacher of the Year Finalists:
  • Karen Hansen, Dean of Students - Heights High School
  • Dr. Sally Mascia, 6th Grade Math Teacher - Monticello Middle School
  • Patricia Smith, Intervention Specialist - Noble Elementary School
  • Lisa Stewart, Kindergarten Teacher - Canterbury Elementary School

District Helping Hand of the Year Finalists:
  • Freddie Crawford, Head Custodian - Noble Elementary School
  • Quinzetta Ellis, Kindergarten Paraprofessional - Oxford Elementary School
  • Brenda Gadowski, Administrative Assistant - Canterbury Elementary School
  • Taylor Myers, Administrative Assistant - Roxboro Middle School 
  • Kim Sudduth, Administrative Assistant (CTE) - Heights High School

District Rookie of the Year Finalists:
  • Joseph Milton, Building Substitute - Roxboro Middle School
  • Pamela Ohlinger, School Counselor - Noble Elementary School
  • Megan Osborne, School Social Worker - Monticello Middle School
  • Kate Regas, Intervention Specialist - Boulevard Elementary School

District Administrator of the Year Finalists: 
  • Allison Byrd - Director of Data, Research, and Assessment
  • Patrick Carpenter, Principal - Noble Elementary School
  • Sue Pardee - Supervisor of Federal Programs and Grants
  • Jacquelyn Taylor, Principal - Oxford Elementary School

These finalists will move on to a panel interview to determine the overall winners. The overall District Teacher of the Year, Helping Hand of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Administrator of the Year will be announced at the Staff Awards Ceremony on June 1. CH-UH will also honor retirees, tenured teachers, and staff who presented at state or national conferences this past school year.
