First Grade Readers at Noble Elementary Meet with K9 Unit

Dec. 2, 2022 -- First grade students at Noble Elementary School were honored to host some very special guest visitors in their building this fall. After reading two stories in their Superkids Reading Program that highlighted how dogs can be used to find lost people and things, teachers reached out to the Cleveland Heights Police Department to invite the K9 unit to come speak to the first graders about the partnership between handlers and canines. Officer Weir, Officer Allen and K9 Rambo were more than happy to meet with the students to allow them to ask questions.

The students were highly engaged asking questions about K9 Rambo's diet, training, smelling abilities, and what special things his handler, Officer Weir, needs to take care of him. The first graders were surprised to see how large K9 Rambo is but loved getting the chance to give him some pets at the end of the sessions. Judging by the active tail wagging, K9 Rambo enjoyed the pets too!
