Feedback Needed on English Class Curriculum Materials

November 28, 2022

Dear CH-UH Families,

You are invited to provide feedback on the K-12 English Language Arts (ELA)/English curricular materials that we are reviewing this school year.

To ensure that we have high-quality instructional materials in every classroom, the CH-UH City School District reviews and adopts new textbooks and materials on a 6-10 year cycle. During the 2022-2023 academic year, our focus is on the K-12 ELA/English curricular materials.

During the 2nd quarter of this school year, teachers and students throughout the district are piloting new materials within their ELA/English classes. Each teacher received training in advance of this pilot and attends ongoing professional learning throughout this time period. As new resources are implemented in our pilot classrooms, our Instructional Leadership team has been gathering feedback and data from educators and students to evaluate the effectiveness of the materials.

From December 5-19, samples of the pilot ELA/English curricular materials will be available for public review in the Children's Room of the Lee Road Branch of the Heights Library. Access the survey here to share your thoughts after exploring them.

The recommendation for a new ELA/English program will be presented to the Board of Education later this school year.

Thank you for your support of this important work.

Sincerely,

Christina Bauer, Ph.D., NBCT
Director of Curriculum and Instruction
