June 10, 2022 -- Fairfax students had the chance to rise up at their spring R.I.S.E. (Reunite, Inspire, Support, Excel) event. With representatives from eight area partners, students and teachers were able to move through various hands-on activities at outdoor stations.

According to event organizer and teacher Eric Cohen, the goal was to “bring people together and get kids out of their seats. I want them to know that they can learn and have fun all summer, outside.” 

Students moved through various stations of their choosing, planting in the school garden, engaging in theater exercises with Dobama Theater, exploring different types of soil with Rust Belt Riders, exploring bugs under a magnifying glass with the Cuyahoga County Soil and Water Conservation District, and completing fun writing prompts with Lake Erie Ink. 

“These are all partner organizations who work across our school district,” said Mr. Cohen. The R.I.S.E. event will ensure that students and teachers and parents all know about the work they do so they can take advantage of all they have to offer, including summer programming.
