Roxboro Middle Teacher Publishes Two New Children's Books

June 17, 2022 -- CH-UH teacher Anna Gregory is excited to announce the release of her brand new children’s books: Hair Beauty and Girl Dads Have Superpowers. Just last year, Mrs. Gregory released her first book “Lotus the Vice POTUS” inspired by the true story of Vice President Kamala D. Harris.

Mrs. Gregory is the Lead Literacy teacher at Roxboro Middle School and says that teaching in the Cleveland Heights community is her “love and passion. I want to share this news with the district first as it’s been an integral part of my life.” She hopes to see the book in CH-UH school libraries and is eager to engage with elementary students, welcoming any opportunity to meet with classes and share her work. “I want children to understand that being an author doesn't mean being a perfect writer. It just means you’re willing to do the work.”
Hair Beauty is a heartwarming story that highlights the special bond shared between little Harmony and her mother. One of the most precious and intimate moments for a little brown girl is getting her hair washed and specially styled. From big natural curls and unique ponytails to intricate cornrows. These precious moments isolate the outside world while inviting songs, secrets, laughter, and positive self-esteem. Everything about this hairstyling experience is magical between girls, mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and other important caregivers. Hair Beauty is experienced through the unique eyes of little Harmony.

Girl Dads have Superpowers is a fun book that highlights the heroic acts of dads with daughters. Girl Dads are so much more than fathers with daughters. Girl Dads are fearless when it comes to teaching their daughters to embrace their true "Girl Power." The magical relationship between dad and daughter can put an extra sparkle in a girl’s eye while lighting her path for independence. Daughters and dads share a special bond like no other!
