CH-UH Announces Finalists for Teacher, Helping Hand, Rookie, Administrator of the Year Awards
Apr. 18, 2025 -- The finalists have been selected for each of the CH-UH City School District’s year-end awards, including Teacher of the Year, Helping Hand of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Administrator of the Year.

The finalists for Teacher, Helping Hand, and Rookie of the Year were determined through district-wide voting. The candidates were the building winners for each award category. District administrators voted to determine the finalists for Administrator of the Year.

District Teacher of the Year Finalists:
  • Sobhi Awadallah, Intervention Specialist - Heights High School
  • Sarah Cusick, Science Teacher - Monticello Middle School
  • Tamar Gray, Vocal Music Teacher - Fairfax Elementary School
  • Marian Stephens, ELA/Math Support - Noble Elementary School


District Helping Hand of the Year Finalists:
  • Brenda Hockett, Lunchroom Supervisor - Canterbury Elementary School
  • Marie Jefferson, Lunch Non-paraprofessional - Noble Elementary School
  • Patrice Martin-Bonner, Confidential Administrative Assistant (Data) - Board of Education
  • Brenda Taylor, Security Monitor - Heights High School


District Rookie of the Year Finalists:
  • Almad Allen, Dean of Students - Roxboro Middle School
  • Jamaya Greer, English Teacher - Heights High School
  • Kilian Netzer, Special Education Paraprofessional - Canterbury Elementary School
  • Tarhonda Ward, Second Grade Teacher - Noble Elementary School


District Administrator of the Year Finalists:
  • Scott Gainer, Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer - Board of Education
  • Sean Patton, Human Resources and District Compliance Officer - Board of Education
  • Shelley Pulling, Principal - Roxboro Elementary
  • Dr. Erica Wigton, Principal - Canterbury Elementary

The overall District Teacher of the Year, Helping Hand of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Administrator of the Year will be selected by employee panels and announced at the Staff Awards Ceremony on May 30. CH-UH will also honor retirees, tenured teachers, and staff who presented at state or national conferences this past school year.
