Board of Education Meeting Summary - August 1, 2023
Aug. 3, 2023 -- At the monthly regular Board of Education meeting on August 1, educators from Heights High School shared points of pride during the Monthly School Spotlight, the Heights Schools Foundation delivered an update on their recent accomplishments, and the Board honored District staff who contributed to summer programming.

Meeting Overview    
  • During each Regular Board of Education meeting, representatives from a CH-UH school share points of pride in the Monthly School Spotlight. For August, Heights High School Principal Dr. Brandon Towns, social studies teacher Patrick Fisher, and 9th Grade Assistant Principal LaChaunne Perry shared how they are helping incoming freshmen prepare for the coming school year. They also recapped last year’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Holocaust education at Heights High.
  • The Heights Schools Foundation delivered a presentation on the organization’s highlights from the past year, including scholarships, fundraising, and social media marketing.
  • Superintendent Kirby shared updates on the past month’s work within the five goals of the District’s Strategic Plan.
  • Chief Financial Officer Scott Gainer delivered his “3 Things” report, a monthly initiative to educate the school community on school funding. The 3 Things for August were:
    • Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP)
    • Project Cash Request (PCR)
    • Final Expenditure Report (FER)
