CH-UH Recognizes Tiger Team Members of the Month for December/January
Jan. 24, 2025 -- The theme across the CH-UH School District this year is Heights United. In that spirit, each month CH-UH is recognizing employees who go above and beyond to inspire unity and create a culture of excellence in our district.

For December/January, CH-UH is honoring 11 people as the “Tiger Team Members of the Month”. Each honoree was nominated by a colleague--and in some instances multiple colleagues--and the nominees were then voted upon by a staff committee.

The honorees will be recognized by the Board of Education on Tuesday, February 4.

BOE/Bus Depot/Delisle/IT/Millikin: Lunetta Clark - Confidential Administrative Assistant, Business & Operations
Lunetta continues to be a valuable asset to the Business & Operations Department. She helps manage millions of dollars that support Business, Transportation, Food Service, District & Building Operations. Her work touches every school and ensures our District runs smoothly.

Raiven brings genuine kindness, patience, and calmness to school each day. She truly has a positive spirit. She takes initiative in helping the teacher prepare and initiate lessons and in guiding students, providing a strong support for the entire classroom.

Canterbury: Amy Miracle - Third Grade Teacher
Amy had her students write thank you notes to the school neighbors. It was such a hit that I read about it on an unexpected social media thread. Neighbors were thrilled to hear from students, and the connection to the community was appreciated. Amy is a fantastic teacher who cares about the community as well as the school. She’s a pleasure as a co-worker as well.

Fairfax: Mary Catherine Knight - Gifted Intervention Specialist
Mary Catherine Knight is a positive addition to the Fairfax staff. She is a pleasant individual who welcomes collaboration and shares ideas and resources. Mary Catherine is professional, motivated, and hard-working. I appreciate having her as a member of our grade-level team.

Gearity: Angela Hoang - Second Grade Teacher
Mrs. Hoang is an innovative and supportive teacher who works to ensure her students are prepared to master grade level standards. She helped select our new math curriculum and has worked with the curriculum team to implement the program at the elementary level. Mrs. Hoang is an active participant on our BLT as the 2nd grade team leader.

Heights High: Willie Newton - Dean of Students
Coach Newton’s commitment to the students of Heights High is truly exceptional. As both a coach and Dean of Students, he consistently goes above and beyond to support the growth and well-being of the entire school community. In his role as Dean, he plays a vital part in fostering a positive and inclusive environment, managing student discipline with fairness and empathy, and ensuring that students feel heard and respected. Coach Newton is also deeply involved in organizing school events and supporting students through personal challenges. His dedication to their success makes him an invaluable asset to CHHS.

Monticello: Kay Milkie - Instructional Coach
Kay has been an unwavering pillar of support for the teachers at Monticello Middle School. Her commitment to empowering educators has significantly enhanced classroom practices, driving improved outcomes for both teachers and students. Kay’s leadership in the Clarity Cohorts has been transformative. She has supported teachers in aligning their instructional strategies with evidence-based practices. Additionally, Kay has been an invaluable resource during this year’s MAP Testing. She not only coordinated make-up testing sessions but also worked closely with teachers to ensure they fully understood score reports and could interpret data to inform their instruction. Her collaborative spirit, problem-solving mindset, and unwavering dedication make her a vital member of Monticello Middle School.

Noble: Ernestine Underwood - Preschool Paraprofessional
Mrs. Underwood always goes over and above for her PreK students. She makes sure they feel loved from the time they walk into the building by making sure that they have eaten breakfast and that they have the things they need to start their day, until they leave each day by giving them a warm goodbye. You can tell that she has a heart for all of our children.

Oxford: Bridgette Bondarenko -Title I Lead Teacher
As the Title I Lead, Bridgette works tirelessly to organize learning environments where no learning gaps exist. She often sees issues that arise in the building and solves them on her own before being asked. Bridgette loves Oxford and truly believes in our students.

Roxboro Elementary: Conrad Steward - School Counselor
Mr. Steward has been so willing to help in anyway he can. He is an excellent teammate and we are lucky to have him!

Roxboro Middle: Hannah Gilson - EL Paraprofessional
Hannah is an incredible asset to our building and district. A CH-UH graduate, Hannah has returned to Roxboro to assist our EL population. She translates assignments, passages and assessments for any teacher to use in the building, no questions asked. Hannah is someone who can be relied on, and is truly just such a delight to have in the classroom (just as she was when I had her in my class when she was in 6th grade!).
