CHHS Students Participate in Cavs DECA Day
CHHS students at the Cavs game on DECA Day

Nov. 20, 2015 -- Heights High School’s DECA students participated in the 14th Annual Cavs DECA Day that took place on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Quickens Arena in downtown Cleveland.

During the afternoon, DECA members from around the state attended a two-hour workshop presented by the Cleveland Cavaliers Marketing staff. Students from various Ohio high schools and career technical centers also took center court to present their DECA chapter’s creative idea for a “Lake Erie Monsters Theme Night”. Themes ranged from “80’s Night” to “Monster Mash Night”. Students had to not only present their idea(s) in poster form, but also had to identify the target market and the specific details in a three-minute oral presentation.

After the workshop, CHHS Marketing students were treated to a pre-game dinner at the Winking Lizard.

After dinner, all students then returned to the Q to root on the Cleveland Cavaliers in their win against the Utah Jazz. AT&T, (the sponsor for CHUH DECA through the Aspire Mentoring Academy), helped provide funding for the trip. All Pro Freight in Avon donated two suite tickets as well.

“I was overwhelmed by the generosity of both AT&T and Chris Haas, owner of All Pro Freight in Avon," said Marketing teacher Sarah Parker. “The students not only had the opportunity to attend an awesome game, but also to sit in a company suite while doing so”.

The students also received tickets to the January 22, 2016 Lake Erie Monsters vs. Milwaukee Admirals hockey game as an added bonus for attending this special yearly event.

“The kids love going to this, and if asked if they’d attend again next year, I’m sure the answer would be an astounding “YES!” added Parker.
