Jan. 4, 2016 -- Heights Libraries have a number of fun events in the month of January for kids and teens, including a movie night and a West African dance class.

Teens

Free Comic Book and Pizza Star Wars Style

Be among the first ten people to sign up for the library’s free book club to receive a free copy of a Star Wars graphic novel. Then stop by the day of the program to share free pizza and join in the discussion. Register by stopping by the teen room in person to sign up.

The program takes place Wednesday, January 13, 3:30 p.m. at the Lee Road branch, 2345 Lee Road.

MLK Movie Weekend: Akeelah and the Bee

Start off your long holiday weekend with a movie night in the teen room. The library will play Akeelah and the Bee, the story of a young girl who learns to believe in herself by competing in a spelling bee. The program takes place Friday, January 15, 3:30 p.m. at the Noble Neighborhood branch, 2800 Noble Road.

Girl Power PowWow

Spend some time hanging out with your friends and the women of the Noble Neighborhood staff. This forum will be a safe space where you can discuss what it's like to be a girl right now. Talk about what's going on in the world, your feelings, and express positive ideas to improve girlhood. The program takes place Thursday, January 28, 5:30 p.m. at the Noble Neighborhood branch, 2800 Noble Road.

Kids

Homework Help

Kids grades K-8 can drop in every Monday and Tuesday in January for help with their homework. This program takes place every Monday and Tuesday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Coventry branch, 1925 Coventry Road.

West African Dance

Bring the whole family to the West African Dance class. Children, parents and elders are encouraged to dance no matter your skill level. If you can talk, you can sing; if you can walk, you can dance!
