Dec. 4, 2015 -- The Roxboro 8th Grade Chamber Orchestra played a selection of Jewish Songs as students entered Severance Hall for the Violins of Hope Concert presented by the Cleveland Orchestra on Thursday, Dec. 3. The Roxboro Chamber Orchestra played for 45 minutes prior the Cleveland Orchestra Educational Concerts in the foyer as students from districts entered from all over the Greater Cleveland Area.

A total of 103 Roxboro 8th Grade Students attended the concert as part of an 8th-grade interdisciplinary IB Unit--Violins of Hope--with Mrs. Clouser's Orchestra, Ms. Bergen’s Language Arts and Mr. Hungerford's Band.

The Cleveland Orchestra presented an Educational Concert with drama to present a powerful lens to view the important role music played in Jewish life before, during and after the Holocaust, expressing themes of spirit, resistance, resilience, and hope. Approximately 90 6th- and 7th-grade Roxboro Orchestra students will attend the Cleveland Orchestra Concert on Friday.

On Tuesday December 8th the Orchestra played for a packed house at Roxboro Middle School.  The Orchestra played a piece from the movie Schindler’s List as well as other Jewish songs.  Several of the orchestra members talked about the Stop the Hate unit and the violins of hope before playing the music.  The rest of the concert revolved around a variety of songs from Avatar, a mysterious piece called Gargoyles and more (New)
