May 27, 2020 -- The CH-UH City School District has named its Teacher of the Year, Helping Hand of the Year, and Administrator of the Year for 2019-2020. We are proud to announce the following winners:

Teacher of the Year
Greg Nachman - Engineering Teacher, Heights High School

Helping Hand of the Year
William Porter - Head Custodian, Boulevard Elementary School

Administrator of the Year
Dr. Christina Bauer - Coordinator of Information Technology

These three winners will receive a Dell Chromebook courtesy of CDW-G, a $50 gift card to Proximity Golf Lounge, and registration for a professional development in the U.S. within a one-year timeframe.

Selection and announcement process

The initial building winners were chosen by their school colleagues earlier this spring. The Teacher of the Year finalists and Helping Hand of the Year finalists were then selected through district-wide voting, and the Administrator of the Year finalists were selected by the Superintendent's Cabinet. The Teacher of the Year and Helping Hand of the Year overall winners were selected following panel interviews. The Administrator of the Year winner was selected following the finalists' presentations to the Cabinet.

This announcement is typically made at the annual CH-UH Staff Awards Banquet that takes place at the end of the school year. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the event was canceled. The District hopes to instead recognize these winners, building-level award winners and others at the Staff Convocation Day in August.
