Seniors Receive Awards

August 14, 2019 -- Heights High alumni, class of 2019, Hannah Pollack and Sam Kramer (L-R) received awards in May from Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple for their religious studies.

Sam received the Leonard B. Ganger Memorial Award that recognizes a member of the senior class who has fully participated in the Senior Seminar classes. “Sam received this award because of his consistent and thoughtful participation in class,” said Staci Cohen, Director of Youth Engagement.  “Sam is an athlete and involved in many other activities but he was here on many Monday evenings and was fully engaged in class.”
Sam played varsity soccer for four years, varsity lacrosse for three years and was the kick-off specialist for the varsity football team for two years.  He is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society.

In the fall, he will attend the University of Cincinnati, College of Engineering and Applied Science where he will study civil engineering.
 
Hannah received the Louis Bondy Youth Group Award that recognizes a graduating senior who demonstrates participation and commitment to the Temple’s youth group. “Hannah was awarded this because of her leadership in the Temple’s youth group,” said Ms. Cohn.  “She is a strong leader and the group really looked up to her. She has a quiet presence about her that appeals to her peers. Hannah is very committed to the Heights High softball team and is equally committed to her religious studies and her youth group.”

Hannah was a member of the varsity softball team for four years and captain both her junior and senior. She will attend Kent State University in the fall to study exercise science and physiology with a minor in psychology.
