Boulevard Fourth Graders Participate in Postcard Exchange
Map of postcard destinations May 14, 2019 -- Fourth grade students across the country learn about their own state as part of their social studies curriculum. In Sherri Bellini’s 4th grade class at Boulevard, they learned key facts about other states too as part of a national Postcard Exchange organized by teachers in a Facebook group.

Mrs. Bellini’s students researched information about Ohio, such as its founding, capital city, state motto, bird, flower, and so on. They typed up and printed out the information they discovered and attached it to postcards of Ohio that they mailed to participating classrooms in 24 other states.

So far, they’ve received return postcards including similar information compiled by their 4th grade counterparts from 16 states across the country. They are attaching their postcards to a large map of the United States, reinforcing their knowledge of geography. According to Mrs. Bellini, “The students have loved getting the postcards in the mail and reading about other states.” Plus they’ve learned how to address, stamp, and mail an actual postcard!
