June 21, 2019 -- The poster frames in the Heights High main hallway once again feature the annual Senior Spotlight photos. This group of posters includes a photo and paragraph about 18 seniors. “The class of 2019 is just wonderful and we wanted to honor them and their accomplishments,” said Administrative Principal Byron Hopkins. “These seniors are just a few of the amazing students in this class.”
The photographers for the project this year were two students, freshman Jada Tucker and sophomore Kaliyah Wilson. Under the supervision of photography teacher Sarah Perz, the students set up the studio, directed the subjects and took the photos. They also used Photoshop to edit the photos and create the posters.
Both of the students are in Photography I class this year and will be in the Photography II course next year.
Jada enjoyed seeing how happy the seniors were to have their photos taken and to be part of the project. “It was a good opportunity to use the skills I learned this year,” she said.
Kaliyah enjoyed working with multiple subjects and collaborating with Jada on the project.
“I volunteered to help with the project because I wanted to challenge myself and improve my photography and editing skills,” she said. “I learned that working on multiple projects at a time can be stressful so you have to be organized.”
Jada is in the AVID program at Heights and is a cheerleader. Kaliyah is a member of the Heights High softball team.
