District Employees Honored by Center for Arts-Inspired Learning
Meghan McMahon and Sue Pardee receive award
July 19, 2018 -- At its Annual Meeting on June 26, the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning presented its 2018 Sunshine Award to Meghan McMahon and Sue Pardee from the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District.

McMahon is the District's 21st Century Grant Coordinator and Pardee serves as the Supervisor of Federal Programs and Grants.

"Meghan and Sue have been outstanding partners over the years, identifying new programming opportunities to address the needs of their students and district, then working tirelessly to help secure funding to bring in CAL artists to work on their programs," said Katie McCullough, Marketing Manager for the center. "We look forward to many more years of successful collaboration in support of CH-UH students!"

The Center works with the District's Peer to Peer mentoring program, which pairs English Learners with native English speakers who need extra help in literacy. With CAL staff, the students in the program have learned sign language, creative movement, painting, and produced a mini play, among other activities. In the past, CAL has also worked with Heights High and other CH-UH schools for extra-curricular programming.

Since 1998, CAL has presented the Sunshine Awards to individuals or organizations who have provided exceptional dedication and support to the organization and its mission.
