CH-UH Schools Celebrate Black History Month

Feb. 6, 2020 -- Each school in the District is celebrating Black History Month with a range of creative events, including historical trivia, living wax museums, musical performances, panel discussions, and more.

Boulevard

-Wax Museum as part of Soul Food Cafe on February 18, 6-8 p.m.

Canterbury

-Morning Announcements: We will begin with some traditional African American artists contributions in the genre of classical music. We will also focus on jazz/gospel and end with contemporary artists. A "Readers Theater" will feature three poems.
-All school assembly: Thursday, February 27, 1:30 p.m.

Fairfax
 
-Black History in American Music - February 18 (1 p.m. grades K-2; 2 p.m. grades 3-5)
-Soul Food Luncheon for Staff - February 21
-All School Celebration Highlighting Black History - February 25

-Artist Music Selection
-Speaker Series

Gearity
 
-A photographer related to a teacher has generously volunteered to take professional photographs of our students reenacting important moments in African-American history, from scientists to artists to medical professionals and more. Students will complete the research, reenact the moment, and be prepared to explain their important moment to Gearity students when we complete a gallery walk at the end of February.

Noble
