January 9, 2020 -- Two Heights High English classes competed in the Maltz Museum’s Sing Out Competition at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on December 11. The classrooms tied for first place and the school will receive a $5000 award to use for anti-bias education.
Dr. Feldman’s College Credit Plus College Composition class wrote and performed
We Can Change our World and Mr. Jurns Freshman Honors English class wrote and performed
E.T.A.H. Artists in residence from Roots of American Music worked with both groups to create the pieces.
Students from 27 area classrooms competed in the event.
Stop the Hate: Youth Sing Out is a joint project of the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage Roots of American Music, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The program invites middle school and high school students to address racism, bullying, bigotry, and violence and learn more about how hate affects us all. The students are a voice for tolerance in their communities. Participating students learn to be advocates, to express themselves and to become agents of change.
