Oct. 18, 2018 -- Noble Elementary School recognized Moe's Southwest Grill for their work with Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit that has donated instruments, professional development and popular music-focused curricular resources to the school's music department.
Daniel Hershman-Rossi, Noble's music teacher, said he connected with
Little Kids Rock when he taught music in Chicago in 2014. The organization had been wanting to expand into other states and regions, and they began developing a relationship with Moe's in order to make it happen.
"When I started teaching at Noble last year, Little Kids Rock reached out to me to help with the partnership with
Moe's, as I had already completed the training and was familiar with the process. Moe’s was a natural partner as they are a community business that many of our families are familiar with," said Hershman-Rossi.
Last year, Little Kids Rock donated 15 ukuleles, some acoustic guitars, one electric bass and one electric guitar. The ukuleles rounded out a set of 15 that Noble's former music teacher Jenna Tucker, who is now at Roxboro Elementary, had procured through a grant. Fourth and fifth graders are currently using the ukuleles to explore folk songs and popular music.
"In the future, I hope to develop our Modern Band program more by acquiring a drum set and starting an after school rock band," said Hershman-Rossi.
On October 10, Moe's catered lunch for the fifth graders at Noble, and Mr. Hershman-Rossi presented the franchise owners with an award.
Moe's is located at 1916 Warrensville Center Road in South Euclid.
