Movie Pros Share their Knowledge
Three movie professionals visit Heights High

Nov. 30, 2018 -- Three movie industry representatives visited Heights High on November 8 to talk to students about the making movies. Netflix producer Rob Salerno, Cleveland based movie location scout and manager Bill Garvey and Frederic Lahey, the director of the School of Film & Media Arts at Cleveland State University spent an hour with students.

Students from the theater, vocal music, technical theater and video production courses attended the after school presentation.

The presenters talked about their role in movie making and answered students’ questions about how to get involved in different aspects of the entertainment industry.

The Heights High staff met Mr. Garvey and Mr. Salerno when they were looking for locations to film the All the Bright Places, based on a popular novel. They both worked with the Cleveland Film Commission on the film’s production.

Mr. Lahey told the students about the opportunities in the new CSU film department. The school has a state-of-the-art facilities with 300 students in the inaugural class.

The Cleveland Film Commission promotes increased media production in Northeast Ohio.
