'A Raisin in the Sun' Ticket Proceeds Benefit HPAC, January 26
Jan. 23, 2019 -- Ensemble Theatre in Cleveland Heights will present Lorainne Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun from January 25 through February 17. A portion of ticket sales for the January 26 show will benefit the 2019 Heights Performing Arts Camp.

The show begins at 8 p.m. with cocktail hour at 6:30. Tickets can be purchased at ensembletheatrecle.org. Additionally, for the weekend of February 1-3, CH-UH families get a special rate; $12 for students and $15 for parents. You can either email Ensemble Theatre directly to RSVP ([email protected]) or call to reserve tickets (216-321-2930) and pay at the door.

A Raisin in the Sun was the first play written by a black woman to be produced on Broadway, as well as the first with a black director, Mr. Lloyd Richards. Set on Chicago’s South Side, the plot revolves around the divergent dreams and conflicts within three generations of the Younger family. The run at Ensemble Theatre is directed by Cosentino and Assistant Director Keith Benford.

The HPAC was formed in 2016, when Building Rox members approached Celeste Cosentino and Ian Hinz of Ensemble Theatre to pitch the idea of a camp. Cosentino and Hinz embraced the idea, and were able to take the vision provided by Building Rox and give it a structure and a home at Ensemble Theatre.
