Message to Families From Superintendent Kirby - October 13, 2020
October 13, 2020

Dear CH-UH Families,

I’m writing to update you on the planning process for the District instructional models set to begin on November 4.

K-12
K-12 mySchool Online families may choose to either stay in fully remote learning or return to school in a blended (also known as “hybrid”) instructional model. In the blended model, students will attend school in person two days a week and remotely for three days a week. We are offering blended learning based on Cuyahoga County’s COVID-19 Level 2 alert level and our Risk Level Recommendations decision-making model

The reopening planning committees reconvened last week to discuss the draft plans for blended learning. This week, I am communicating with various parent representatives to get their feedback on blended learning. The plans will be presented at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, October 20 at 7 p.m. You can watch the meeting live on our YouTube channel.

If you decide to keep your child in the fully remote learning model for Quarter 2, we ask that you please submit this form by Saturday, October 24. You will need your student’s ID number to submit the form. This is available in your Infinite Campus account and in my October 13th email. Please call your child's school should you need assistance.

If you would like your child to return to school on November 4 in the blended model, you do not need to take the survey. We will automatically enroll them and communicate the scheduled days for students to families. If your child is enrolled in Ohio Online, you do not need to take the survey, as your child will remain in the program through at least the end of this first semester.

Preschool

Preschool families can choose between staying in remote learning or returning to school in-person four days per week based on their assigned class time (AM or PM). Preschool families may submit this form to select their preferred instructional model by October 24th.

Thank you for your collaboration and your trust throughout this process. I continue to be humbled by our families’ level of commitment to their students’ academic success. We are truly one Tiger Nation, and I am proud to serve this incredible community.

Sincerely,
Superintendent Kirby
