Aug. 26, 2020 -- Parent Orientation, Curriculum Night and Student Support events begin August 28 for mySchool Online students. These events are designed to help students and families prepare for the start of the school year and meet their teachers.
The Parent Orientation is designed for parents and students to meet staff and discuss the expectations for the upcoming school year, as well as the necessary materials and supplies.
Student Support is designed for students to work with teachers on preparing for remote learning. Student support is targeted for students in transition grades, and students who needed additional help during the spring quarter.
The purpose of Curriculum Night is for parents and guardians to meet with classroom teachers and/or specialists, and to learn about the school, grade-level curriculum, expectations, and technology platforms for the school year.
Reminder: September 2-4 will be staggered start days for students in PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade.
Preschool/Pre-K
The goal of our Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten orientation is for children and parents to meet their teacher in-person to build personal connections. Families will receive an orientation letter in the mail assigning them an orientation date. Teachers will then call each family to set up a specific time.
Teaching teams will meet with families one-on-one on the playground for approximately 20 minutes. During the visit, the teacher will play with the child on the playground, chat with the parent/guardian about what online learning will look like, and set up a 1-1 virtual session for parent/guardian the following week. Families will also receive their child’s “At Home Learning Kit” which will include books, art supplies, manipulatives, visuals schedules, and additional materials needed to support IEP goals at home.
