Feb. 9, 2018 -- Heights Middle School art teacher Jerome White is now a published author.
White self-published and illustrated the children’s book Red Tail Dreamer, which was completed in December. White's artwork from the book is now on display at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in the Stephanie Tubbs Jones gallery. The display will run from February as part of Black History Month, through April or June 2018.
The story is about a young boy in the 1940s who daydreams of becoming a pilot, hearing the roar of airplane engines above him day after day.
Last year, as White was raising funds for the project, he explained that the idea for the book came to him after watching the film
Red Tails several years ago. He adds that it is a tribute to his late grandfather, who served as a physical education instructor for the Tuskegee Airmen.
