Coventry Site Deed Transferred to Heights Libraries
April 2, 2018 -- The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District transferred the title for the Coventry PEACE Campus to Heights Libraries last Wednesday, March 29, at the Heights Libraries’ Lee Road branch.
CH-UH Board of Education President Jim Posch thanked the Library, saying, “We’re sad to let the property go, but the schools need to focus on educating our children. We are thrilled that the Library has taken this on. It will be great for the community.”
Heights Libraries Director Nancy Levin expressed gratitude to the District for entrusting the property to the Library. “We are very happy to take on the project so the property can continue to be used for the public good.”
The CH-UH Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the sale of the six-acre property, including the PEACE park, to the Heights Libraries at its Feb. 21 regular meeting. The Library assumed control of the site on April 1.
Over the next several weeks, the Library will finalize the building tenants’ leases, requiring payment of $3 per square foot and the creation of a reserve fund to reimburse the Library for any expenses related to the building’s upkeep.
The Library will also continue to partner with the Coventry Special Improvement District (SID) on summer programs in the park.
